About Struisbaai, S.Africa
Struisbaai is part of the beautiful Overberg region. It is a little village next to the town of Agulhas, at the southernmost tip of Africa, with a 14km stretch of white, sandy, unspoilt beach, which is the main attraction that makes it such an appealing holiday destination.
Struisbaai is one of the world's foremost kitesurfing Mecca's, visited by extreme water lovers. The SE is slightly onshore but it becomes more cross shore further downwind. It is a protected bay and therefore provides great flat water conditions for wake style riding on an E or SE wind. The waves are medium sized on an E/SE. The SW is a popular wind direction for wave riding down-winders, although it can be a little gusty, so it is best to go further downwind where it is more cross shore. At back-line the swell can get extremely big and provides the perfect wave on a SW. The wind is good all year round.
