Struisbaai is part of the beautiful Overberg region.  It is a little village next to the town of Agulhas, at the southernmost tip of Africa, with a 14km stretch of white, sandy, unspoilt beach, which is the main attraction that makes it such an appealing holiday destination. Struisbaai is one of the world's foremost kitesurfing Mecca's, visited by extreme water lovers.  The SE is slightly onshore but it becomes more cross shore further downwind.  It is a protected bay and therefore provides great flat water conditions for wake style riding on an E or SE wind.  The waves are medium sized on an E/SE.  The SW is a popular wind direction for wave riding down-winders, although it can be a little gusty, so it is best to go further downwind where it is more cross shore. At back-line the swell can get extremely big and provides the perfect wave on a SW.  The wind is good all year round.

You can rig up your gear on Struisbaai Main Beach or the large grass area.  There is safe parking, ablutions and showers available.  Watch out for the blue bottles on a SE. Struisbaai is ideal for fishing, kitesurfing, swimming, shell collecting, sunbathing, hiking, mountain biking, guided 4x4 trips or simply relaxing and taking in the amazing scenery.  The quaint Struisbaai harbour provides whale watching boat excursions, particularly during the mating season between May and December. The Agulhas lighthouse is a popular attraction and is the second oldest working lighthouse in Southern Africa.  There are a handful of restaurants and an abundance of shops for most of your needs and ATM's but no bank. Look for the L'Agulhas Seafoods Restaurant on your left as you drive through the village.  You can buy fresh fish and seafood daily at the small fishing harbour.
