About Old Hunstanton, England
Old Hunstanton is a beautiful seaside village, just north of the town Hunstanton on the north-east coast of Norfolk, on the east coast of England. The area is very popular with tourists and watersport enthusiasts alike, partly due to its west-facing beaches, which receive plenty of sun, and give the place its nickname of 'Sunny Hunny'.
The expansive, sandy beach benefits from a shallow shelving sea-bed, which creates some nice flat water at low tide for the freestyle enthusiast, and means beginners and students won’t find themselves out of their depth or comfort zone. You can ride at most tidal states, although there is very little beach on a big spring tide. Stay well away from the cliffs when the tide is high, as they can generate huge updrafts.
This spot works with winds blowing from the southwest, west, and north, right round to a northeasterly, but goes off best in a westerly. Traveling to Old Hunstanton, England
Nearby Hunstanton’s rail link with London via King’s Lynn makes it just two hours from the capital – and a competitive alternative to popular kitesurfing destinations such as Southend and Brighton. King’s Lynn station is 90 minutes from King’s Cross, and Old Hunstanton is then just 30-minutes’ taxi ride from there. If you are travelling by car, you will find Old Hunstanton on the A149 coast road, which connects with the A47 (Midlands), A10 (Cambridge, London via M11), and A17 (Lincolnshire). You can also go by air, as Norwich International Airport is only 45 miles (72km) away, with direct flights from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Manchester all year round, and with Jersey and Guernsey in holiday season, plus thousands of international connections via Amsterdam.
