About Noordhoek Beach, S.Africa

In between Noordhoek and Kommetjie lies the beautiful unspoilt Noordhoek Beach with its perfect waves that range between 1-3m with flat sections in between.  The waves are long with perfect barrels for surfing.  The beach is wide, horseshoe curved and 8km long which runs from Chapmans Peak to Kommetjie.  The water is crystal clear, but cold.   The beach is spacious and wide enough for land kiting.  It is a super spot to learn but beware of the rocks to the north.  In summer, the wind is mostly S to SE.  The 'Cape Doctors'  SE wind can get very strong at times up to 40 knots.  The NW is usually accompanied by bad weather, it is mostly a winter wind and is less reliable but steady when it does come through.  The wind tends to pick up in the mornings and gets stronger towards the afternoon.  It is recommended to get to the beach early if strong winds are predicted.  The wind is good all year round but best from November to April with wind directions ranging from SE, S to NW.
