About Melkbosstrand, S.Africa

Melkbos is a remote village and is a 10 minute drive away from Table View.  It is a very popular spot for kitesurfing.  The waves run in sets and are best at low tide.  The wind is predominantly side shore and is suitable for both jumping and wave riding alike.  The wind picks up in the afternoon but is usually lighter here than at Big Bay when the SE blows and can be gusty.  The best conditions are on a strong SW or NW.  The best place to kite is in front of the windsurfing parking and then head downwind towards the power station.  The beach is known as a surfing and windsurfing hotspot because of its large waves accompanied by the Cape Doctor's SE winds.  The beach is wide and there is an awesome flat water spot just behind the rocks.
