About Kommetjie, S.Africa

Kommetjie is a town you should stop in and experience.  It is a world class windsurfing spot with one of the biggest drops in the Cape Peninsula.  It usually has a fairly constant S and W wind.  The SW is onshore and the South Easter can be extremely gusty and is not recommended for kiting.  Kommetjie is more of an advanced kiting spot for wave riders.

Traveling to Kommetjie, S.Africa

Kommetjie is in the Chapmans Peak area close to Noordhoek.  Cape Town International Airport is approximately a 45km drive.  Car Rentals are available at the airport.

Facilities At Kommetjie, S.Africa

Parking is available at the beach and there is ample space to rig up your gear.  There are ablutions available at the beach and a couple of good local seafood restaurants.  For a panoramic view, get to the top of South Africa's tallest cast iron lighthouse, the Slangkoppunt Lighthouse.  Take a tour and climb to the top to see Cape Point Nature Reserve and Hout Bay.  For luxury self catering accommodation, stay at the Beach Haven
