Haakgat is north of Big Bay and Calmers.  If the swell and wind is right it is Cape Towns best wave spot.  The waves are massive but they give you a clean long ride when the wind is perfect side-shore and the swell is bigger than normal, the bigger the better, but the more dangerous.  Sometimes the breaks are very hollow and create epic ramps for those huge air's.  The best swell is the SW in summer.  Be careful of the shore break, as it can be extremely high and there is a strong rip close to the beach.  This spot is definitely worth your while but recommended for advanced riders, especially during high tide and big waves.

Facilities At Haakgat, S.Africa

Haakgat is a very popular surfing, wind surfing and kite surfing spot and is situated between Big Bay and Melkbosstrand. It is also great for angling and fly fishing.  There is ample space on the beach to set up your gear but parking space is limited.  There are no facilities at the beach, the closest spot is Big Bay, which has kitesurfing shops, restaurants and ample accommodation. Visit the Kitesports and Cabrinha shops on the Big Bay beach front.
