About Chalong Beach, Thailand

Chalong Beach is located on the central south coast of Phuket, the biggest island in Thailand. Thailand boasts a tropical climate, with warm waters, white pristine beaches, and reliable breezes. Make sure you bring a quiver that can also deal with light winds. Phuket has many secret beaches and little bays to discover. Chalong Beach is actually a huge bay with shallow flat water. The water temperature is glorious and warm throughout the year, so there’s no need for a wetsuit, although it’s a good idea to bring a rash vest to protect yourself from the blazing sun. Close to shore can be a bit muddy at times. The season is from November to March, with the trade winds blowing predominantly cross to cross-onshore from the west, but the spot can work in any wind direction, just as long as there is no north in it. Expect anything from 15-20 knots.
