About Barra do Cunhau, Brazil
One of the better spots for learner kiters, the beach here doesn’t get as crowded as other spots in Brazil. The scenery is beautiful, with expansive beaches and a tranquil atmosphere. Inside a huge lagoon, which is open to the sea, you’ll find both perfectly flat water in the north, and small to medium waves at the southern end.
The large, shallow waters mean beginners can practice without getting out of their depth, while its sheer size and diversity makes it equally popular with more advanced riders. The best conditions occur between August and December, when winds are mainly south or southeasterly, and reach 15 to 25 knots. There is a beautiful Hotel and IKO Kitecenter right on the beach, which offers storage rooms, compressors, boat rescue, lessons, tours, rentals and more.
